Sudhir Choudhrie is a London-based businessman and philanthropist. He has been the chairman of the industrial conglomerate, Vedanta Resources plc since 2006. Sudhir Choudhrie was born in Amritsar, Punjab on the 3rd of October 1947. After completing his education at St. Edward’s School, Oxford, he completed a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Cambridge University. He then went to work for an advertising firm before moving into the hotel industry alongside making investments in the technology industry.

His path to becoming one of the most powerful businessmen in England began when he established C&C Alpha Group, which has since expanded across Europe, Australia and America. Sudhir Choudhrie’s sons (Asher and Tariq) are pursuing their own ventures as well with Asher working with his father in C&C Alpha Group, while Tariq is the CEO of C&C Business Solutions, both companies being subsidiaries of Choudhrie’s flagship company, C&C Alpha Group.

In 2008 it was reported that Sudhir had been included as one of The Times top 50 Asian business leaders in Britain. In 2010, Choudhrie was recognized by TIMES Magazine as one of the ‘100 most influential people in the UK’.

Sudhir Choudhrie is currently seen on the board of directors for many companies worldwide including Turnberry Associates, Investec Bank plc., Sunseeker International Limited and Vedanta Resources plc. He has served on the board of directors for various other companies over the past decade including Phoenix Group Ltd., Phoenix House plc, LCC International plc, First Hydrocarbon Nigeria plc and Abraaj Capital. Sudhir has been a chairman or a director of many companies that have since been dissolved. Some include: CYBG PLC (formerly Clydesdale Bank PLC), Magma International plc., Capricorn Real Estate Investment Trust PLC, Croydon Health Services NHS Trust and the director of Soho Loft Media Group Ltd.
